4x2GB vs 2x4GB for overclocking

This may be beating a dead horse, but would I get better overclocking from a 2x4GB setup or 4x2GB? Is extra power really a issue with my setup? BTW, I am definitely upgrading to 8GB.

I'm going to say 2 x 4gb

Agreed, less mem modules = better (less dimms = faster)

Can anyone explain why? I want to know the physics behind that. Not that I don't trust what you're saying, but I want to understand and not just know.

fully loaded ram slots place more stress on the IMC than 2 slots of the same capacity, also the IMC defaults to the next divider down when 4 slots are loaded.
2x4gb for overclocking.

I do remember that problem with my earlier cpu (Phenom II X4 940). AMD hasn't fixed that issue yet?
It's not really a problem because since your on ocn, your not afraid of messing with the bios
i would go for 2x4gb at the drop of a hat but the prices are pretty steep for the modules, espcially as im still using a ddr2 board until am3b surfaces with a (fingers crossed) nVidia chipset

Well, my FSB is at 275 MHZ; perhaps it could go higher. My goal is to run at 2000 MHZ with DDR3 1600 since reviews report this to be an easy and stable overclock for the Hyperx Blu (I'm trading my OCZ Fatal1ty's out with these. Later today, in fact).

Same ram 8 gb. I have turned mine every way but loose. Had v up to 1.84, timings 787 19 1t. Fastest the box has run is at 13.5X300, 3000 NB, 2100 HT, 999 27 40 2t, 1.74 v, drive strengths up one notch on everything.

With the 1090T you will have zero issue running 4 DIMMs at ~1600Mhz
The x6 has a very improved IMC
