Can triple channel memory be compatible with 1156 motherboard?

Hey guys,

I have a 6GB Triple Channel DDR3 kit.
I have one stick rusted and it can not be used.

Would it be possible for me to place the remaining functional 4GB of DDR3 into a socket 1156 motherboard?

Thanks.

Yes if you use 2 sticks instead of 3 it will simply function as a dual channel set.

Do you guys think that it would be compatible with a AM3 motherboard with the 890X chipset?
