That is the "Bugatti Veyron" moment, hence why VW only proceeded . Its a technological showcase same as the GTX 590. All in all, its all about the publicity.

btw, troll'n?

If you weren't around for them, the 7950GX2, 9800GX2, and GTX295 never got non-reference PCBs.
The 295 got a single-PCB revision, but that was official.

This would be great if it is true... But considering TSMC majors issues with 40nm process tech which led to low yields -- I have little faith that 28mn will be on time. I think next year 2Q at the earliest.

Not proof per se, but it shouldn't be too long of a wait for the next series from AMD and nVidia to release. There hasn't been much word on it in quite a while though. I believe AMD and nVidia are both going with Global Foundries for their GPUs as well.

Meanwhile the warranty is nearly impossible to honor and the price is through the roof everywhere from manufacturer, AIB, to consumer.

Anyway, i am sure it will be a performance beast. Likely will beat the 6990 pretty handily.
What can you do. 40nm has been out since HD 4770 and passed on to HD 58XX and again to 69XX which is a bit much. I personally say that HD 69XX will be my last 40nm card. We need 28nm for better performance and lower heat power consumption.

does anyone else realize that their current 4+2 phase VRM doesn't work well with teh GTX 570, as many GTX 570s are dieing from their crappy VRs? *** is 10 phase for a 580gtx, they use 6+2 for GTX 580. I bet this thing will do 450 TDP with furmark.
