I don't know about that. AMD and Intel have traded blows in the past; Intel hasn't always been king. But even if AMD completely blew Intel out of the water with Bulldozer, Intel's marketing power would still create trouble for AMD.

Lots of people in this forum don't know jack about what computers were like pre-Core 2.

The slide is a price comparison only. It confirms that AMD is going to price the 8 core BD near enough to Sandy Bridge so that the system cost will be about the same. It confirms that we probably won't see any of the $1000 FX CPUs that people have forecasted.

That's it.

All other comments about performance vs Sandy Bridge are based on assumptions from AMD past products, rumors, and are colored by people's preferred brand. Somehow, that seems to be pretty irrelevant to a slide about price...

Anyway, carry on with all of your trite comments about how you can't compare 8 cores to 4 cores, that, as usual, BD will be another AMD CPU which is only a lot of slow cores, and that Intel will always be ahead.

Sigh... I personally think this price information, if true, is good news.

.... this is a fluctuating market. AMD has been on the top before. There is no point in saying,
"AMD is way behind Intel and will probably always be that way."

So there is some kind of magical curse that prevents AMD from developing good technology?

that is like saying

"Your post is stupid, and you will probably always be that way."

In reality don't you want Bulldozer to be better than SB, for the sake of progress and competition?

Maybe Intel is tired of being on top, I know I like to be on the bottom some times

Soo what happens wen intel bring out their next gen cpu's ? Ivy bridge will kick bulldozers ass ... amd will have to catch up once again .

Amd will never take the crown , they are too slow ... bulldozer aint even here yet and their aiming to keep with SB ? sorry to tell you , intels new cpus are due in a few months time only to set amd a whole generation behind again.

LOL really? You don't see the bigger picture with bulldozer do you? It's not about core speed, it's about integration and overall performance. Throwing more cores aren't going to do anything for now, we barely can write programs that require 4 and that's pushing it with newer GPU acceleration coming this way. Yeah, synthetic benchmarks are amazing but only so if a program can use them. I've seen the "new" stuff that Intel is bringing and it's still behind in innovation.

The CPU is going to leave the mainstream market if this APU keeps pushing itself. People don't want to upgrade, they don't want modular parts they want a new product. Innovation paves the way not speed.

Bulldozer 2(Comodo) will be shortly after Ivy Bridge, followed by a die-shrunk version of Bulldozer(3ish) for Haswell.

Not to say any one product will outperform the other, but to instead ask you to get your head out of your ass and quit being so pessimistic. AMD has kicked Intel's ass before so don't count them out so quick. The fact that Bulldozer will be on par if not beat Sandy Bridge badly, considering AMD's budget compared to intel, is nothing short of spectacular in my book. And i LIKE Intel.

They never said bulldozer would beat sandy bridge, they said it would compete with it. Just like deneb competed with nehalem, and just like thuban competed with gulftown. Guess what? Amd is still behind, sorry to break it to you.

I used to own a phenom II system, and it was great until I started playing more cpu intense games, then I realized how slow the architecture really was. And yes, I had my cpu-nb overclocked too, and I still saw a tremendous increase going with a 2500k.

Quit with the fanboyism and look at the facts, jeez. I'm not saying amd will never be on top again, but they sure as heck aren't on top right now.
