Let's hope the Memory Controller is good enough to keep the memory at 2000MHz+ Overclocked, includeing the Northbridge

The real question here is whether or not Bulldozer, core for core, can beat Sandy Bridge. My guess is it probably won't. And that's all that really matters in gaming. (Unless you're playing Crysis 2 in which case, eight cores are useful, but that's quite a light game)

Eight Bulldozer cores should easily beat a 2600k with HT, but I have my doubts about four Bulldozer cores beating a 2500k.
And that my friend is why you cant Compare core for core!

We have different types of Architecture here.
AMD_______________INTEL
Apples____________oranges

The Way a "core" is used in a OS is what we need to be going by, for that is a real world environment. A OS will split these cores/modules in to Threads.

8Threads VS 8Threads Is actually the best way to compare.

Look at Cinebench...

When AMD wins by having most power to a thread, because (BD,"cores")
are more effecient than Hyper threading. then people shouldnt blame it on What they "think" a Core is.

ZOMG 8 core vs a 4 core ain't fair...<--- More like--> AMD is making a more efficient CPU at a higher NM. and that my friend means Higher OC head room, and lower temps.. Oh yes dont forget faster per clock speed.
wait till a die shrink and then we will really talk "not fair"

Module as in Modular kina like legos. you know legos right?

@anyone that compares BD to Phenom II's release.
It was mearly a die shrink and throw in 2 extra cores.
Bulldozer is Entirly a new type of CPU all together.
Expect to see it Do well.

That reminds me of the nVIDIA shaders and the ATi shaders. People were like "ZOMG ATI NOOBS THE GOT 3X SHADERS AND SAME PERFORMANCE TROLOLOLO NVIDIA DA BÃœZT ATI LOZARS". And they were two very different architectural strategies.

the Athlon XP at that time was neck and neck with the pentium 4, and right after that AMD took the crown and held it for years with the Athlon 64.

Not really as Core 2 Duo hit the market 2006 and has had the crown since.
From what I remember the Athlon64 was out for around 3-4 years before the Core2Duo came into picture. So technically he has a point. AMD back in the day was a much better PC Gaming Chip. I had one, and my friend had a P4, he was never getting the same performance. But again, once the Core2Duo came out, I switched over and haven't looked back since... till now.

I'm dying for Bulldozer. I expect the first version to compete with Intel's current best (980/990X and Sandy Bridge) and their second generation to compete with Ivy Bridge. There was a news thread with a roadmap posted somewhere and the second generation offers double the performance so that means they're going to give bulldozer 16 cores in the 2nd gen.
