EDIT: Average OCN'er is 15-16!? I find that pretty doubtful, I'm gonna say average is around 18-19, at least among the "real" users (those who do more than join OCN for one day to ask a tech question).
I would have thought it to be considerably higher than that, given the costs of a lot of the rigs floating around here.

Thread Starter
You know, now that I look back on it and add the numbers up, most of the responders to the more or less official poll were born between 1986 and 1993. We've had some membership surges since the poll began, so I don't know how relevant the information is any more, but I guess OCN is probably a little older than I thought. I think I've seen off-topic polls that show a younger population, but it's still early in the morning, and I am rather decaffeinated.

This thread made me think that too.

It is hard to get a good sample, because polls require self reporting and like you said, the area the poll is posted (OT) plays a large role in the type or responder. If you were born after the mid 80's, it is pretty unlikely you played games on a 486, or saw DOS outside of a command window, and there seems to be a lot of people on even older systems.

At least in this thread.
