Considering a H70 for 980x - Page 3

The Cosair is really priced to high for its performance, its on par with the top air coolers and miles behind the all in one kits from Rasa and Swiftech. The only appeal I see in it is for people who like the low profile look and people who like the idea of water cooling but do not want to deal with the associated hassle.

I'm using the H70 kit with my 980x and loving it!
I was considering a custom loop, but the ease of use from the H70 and its small space requirements are what attracted me. Even though this is all in a HAF X, I still prefered a compact unit which works quite effectively. A large air cooler turned me off a little with the potential of interfearing with ram. Obviously a custom loop turned me off with maintenance and the risks (especially if it was my first loop).

Anyway as for cooling, I'm running my 980x @ 4.4 Ghz, 1.343vcore with HT and speedstep enabled. Max temp on the hottest core hits 75 degrees celcius running Prime95 small fft's all day. I cant push my chip much further without blowing the voltage to clock efficiency out the window, where 4.6ghz requires 1.375v which i dont want to run all day everyday. In case your wondering, using GT-15 fans (push/pull).

So in my oppinion, great cooler, I'd buy it again if I had too.

Nothing wrong with the H70, is just that people usually think that if you gona spend as much money on a cpu of that price that you gona fit something a bit more ambicious than a H70, but it does his job and you get what you pay for it.
If you dont feel confortable with building your own loop you could always go for a XSPC Rasa 750 RX360 kit which not only performs better but also gives you more flexibility to loop upgrade aswell as introducing you to watercooling and is not even that expenssive.
I leave you the link here for the rasa kit: http://www.watercoolingshop.co.uk/XS...Kit_ASLZD.aspx

Is just a sugestion, best of luck with whatever you decide in the end
