4870 x2 cooling?

Thread Starter
I just picked up a 4870 x2 (because it was $140 and faster than a lot of newer cards, idc about dx11).

I was wondering if they still made something like this:

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=16651

looks like the H50 with and extended loop. If that's not possible, could anyone tell me how I could water cool the 4870 x2 alone (have a cooler for my cpu already).

Im new to water cooling and want to try it, I don't have the best idea of what I need for parts. Looking for price/performance like most. Using a cosmos s case.

Thanks in advance everyone

I doubt they make one for the 4870x2 still.

A loop just for the 4870x2 would run about $200 usd, thats the block, pump, reservoir and tubing.

Might be able to swing $150 or less on used parts.

Water cooling isnt hard but it can get very expensive.

on ebay theres a few blocks for 25-35.00, heres one of them

http://cgi.ebay.com/EK-FC4870-AC-Hig...item51979ff961

get you a rasa 360 kit and that block and you can cool the cpu and the video card both
or sell the rasa cpu block for about 40.00 and recoop some of your cost

a rasa 240 kit would probably do you but with the 360 kit you got some room to expand later if you want
if you really just want to do the gpu get the rasa 240 kit sell the rasa cpu block and put your video card on it

rasa 240 kit here for 127.99
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ra750rswakit.html

these are your most cost effective ways to get it going

you will need to add 2 g1/4 1/2inch fittings to the rasa kit order if you decide to use the cpu block also (about 5.00) and get you a silver kill koil also (about 6.00)

Thanks for the feedback. $150-200 doesn't sound too bad for a cpu/gpu loop. Maybe I should return my H50... hmm I wonder if its too late.

So I can use the rasa 240 and all i would need is a 4870x2 water black? Think a gtx 260 water block would be easier?

yea all you would need is the kit and the gpu block.

The 260 would be less heat due to only one core.

I like those kits, but It looks like there are cool parts i can pick individually. for example ( colored hoses, different pumps that people are recommending).

For a single GPU (no cpu) could I use a single 120mm radiator (push pull with fans), reservoir, pump and block.

Yea a 120 would be fine.

Ive always figured you need 120mm of radiator per cpu/gpu.

Ok awesome. So because of space restrictions, I can keep my H50 at the rear fan and use another 120mm radiator on the top 120/140mm fan spot.

Parts im thinking about:
rad- http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcqpo12bl.html
pump- http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpuw.html
res- http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/biwataz150po.html
block- http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ekgtxnipl.html

The block is for a 460, but i have one so no worries, cant seem to find one (a clear black for the 4870 x2 so i can see the water).

what else do i need or need to change?

Also looking for the correct tubing and How I can make it glow an awesome blue color

You could get the Swiftech Mcres its about $25 but your $35 will work also.

Dont forget tubing, barbs and kill coil. You can buy UV tubing and get a light to make it glow.

I can help with that if you need me to.
