Given that both are the same price, why not get the better? Might just max more future releases. OP has stated its for gaming, not folding.

Yeah, no doubt it outperforms 460s when they're clocked at 675 mhz. What about 800mhz 460s? What about comparing at the same level of IQ? Have we forgotten already?

Oh, and btw, we were discussing 470s and 6870s with that chart.

Either way, when I game I keep them stock because like someone pointed earlier, it can already max out pretty much anything at 1920x1080 60hz.

And personally I never had any problems with ATI/AMD drivers.
Me neither had problems with AMD drivers but some ppl claim to have.

Why are you bringing in 470? OP asking for 460 vs 6870. Maybe OC 460 performs better, then the question becomes; does the op plan to OC his gfx's?

Don't forget to check this out.

"That's right, a GeForce card in DirectX 9 delivers similar texture mapping and lighting as a Radeon card in DirectX 11 mode does (minus the DirectX 11 effects, of course)."

Faraz brought up 470s. It's a good comparison because an overclocked 460 performs on the same level (roughly) as a stock 470.

From a practical gaming perspective, you can't go wrong with either choice really.

The link Rakin posted seems to show the opposite, though. So who knows.
"The HD6870 came first in 12 of our 32 tests, 20 if you include Resident Evil 5 which it won all 8. The GTX460 1GB won 9 of our 32 tests"

Looks pretty even. What about image quality?

It's a shame they're the same price where he's at, because the 460s are much cheaper than the 6870 in the states.

Don't forget PhysX, folding, etc. If they're reference cards, the Nvidias will be significantly more quiet as well.

Original point still stands: Either will get more-than-60FPS in any game you want, so get whichever floats your boat more.

Then OC 460 sli > stock 6870 cfx
OC 6870s > OC 460.

6870 will beat 460 at the same clock.

Not Comparing Clock per clock but comparing which will have bttr picture quality, bttr Tessellation performance, bttr overall performance & bttr FPS.
