What's superior thermal compound now-a-days?

Thread Starter
I know this changes from time to time and since my last build (2 years ago) it has to have changed. I also realize it's some what subjective but there usually is a general consensus on a "better" one. Can anyone point me in the right direction for what thermal compound to buy please?

It's going to go on my existing rig. Thank you

I always go with Shin etsu

IC Diamond 7
Arctic Cooling MX-4

In my opinion is runner up, if you can find them cheap, or throwing a build together where shipping wont be rape.

Shin etsu rebrand. Best bang for buck. For if you need TIM by itself,

Best shin etsu is "X23-7783D" Stuff is $12 at frys for me.

Ive been using Arctic Silver 5 for years, Im sure there are some things that may be slightly better, but Ive never seen evidence of any extraordinary gains from other compounds, so I just stick with the silver.

I have always had good luck with Ceramique and buy it in large syringes for multi-use purposes. It has a small break-in period, is non-conductive and lasts. Only thing to be careful with it is when removing heatsinks from chips with ZIF sockets. Once Ceramique has broken in, it will pull these chips out of the socket. I usually get the heatsink warm or twist it before removing the heatsink. Other than that, its worked fine for me.
