[MSN] Jon Bon Jovi slams Steve Jobs for 'killing' music - Page 15

I waited on Bon Jovi once when he came into my restaurant. He was there with Dave Sabo and neither of them were very friendly and I'm not even a fan nor did I mention or reference to who they were.

I actually did not mention to any of my Co-workers that he was there in fear that they would bother or gawk at him. Trying to be courteous and respectful.

Don't get me wrong it wasn't the tip. The tip was adequate of the price of the bill.

They were just not very friendly. And I don't even mean rude I mean just not very friendly. (smiling, generally interested that a human was serving them food)

(on topic) And to blame Steve Jobs for "killing music" is just ridiculous.

i pirate music just so i know weather its worth buying. i hate buying a cd and never listen to it.

Jon Bon Jovi probably doesn't know how to send an email and is making stupid generalizations based on a gut reaction. The big labels are reeling, but the music business is bigger than ever. It's the age of the Indie label.

I can see exactly where he's coming from. I remember having to save up to buy a new cd, bringing it home and unwrapping it, smelling that new plastic smell (I do the same thing with DVDs and games), putting the cd in and just letting it play. I liked listening to the album as a whole, finding out which songs I liked, which songs I didn't and still just enjoying albums overall.

What killed music, is the absolute **** that is the mainstream music today. Music today is crap, plain and simple. Take me back to the late 80s early 90s when rock and metal were awesome, when hip-hop and rap ACTUALLY meant something instead of this bull**** that fills the airwaves, when country was actually tolerable, the songs being about having fun and cars and girls, not the same constant love song crap that most is today.

I have an mp3 collection over 70gbs and 10,000+ songs, 99% of it from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s, even the early 2000's, when music was good. But even still, I miss the feeling of a new CD/Tape and just enjoying the music as it played.

iTunes definitely didn't kill what we once knew as music, modern society did. Today's technology, coupled with the music industry, set music into the death spiral long before iTunes was around.

Same here... and then I grew up. How does Bon Jovi know that this doesn't still happen with some kids today?

Music today is not crap, you just have to know where to find the good stuff. Music, from my experience over the years, has only gotten better. With mp3s being traded around like crazy, new kinds of music are being made from a variety of different influences, too bad most of it isn't marketable. The mainstream has definitely become watered down to make it cost effective.

The Iphone4 has had some of the best specs for phones when it was released. We are comparing devices with their respective families.

It has not been getting better in the sense of the general scale. Most musicians have very weak vocal leads with minor cord progressions that have been slightly altered and overused since the 60s. Most bands throw their voice through an auto-tone and call it a day.

Since these said bands has been using tweaks that are not natural, it is cheating, and thus of lower quality when compared to skill.

He owns a football team and travels around the world for business purposes. I'm sure he knows how to make an e-mail.
