Well the fidelity on records is significantly better than the digitally compressed garbage that is listened to today.

However, I think the plethora of people making terrible music, and that terrible music being promoted with a bunch of money behind it whilst the better stuff is ignored is what is killing the industry.

There are few albums worth listening from start to finish. The majority of albums have 1 or 2 good songs at the beginning and then back-loaded with incoherent filler.

The music album as a format may be over.

Agreed. This is just an over-emotional response from someone who, instead of thinking about it rationally, decided to scapegoat the biggest name in online music distribution that he could come up with.

I think what Mr. Bongiovi is failing to thoroughly realize is that music may still be purchased and listened to the way he describes - it's just that many people are CHOOSING to go the online route. The desire by the consumer to pick and choose songs and download them are what's driving the online music business. Steve Jobs isn't out destroying racks of CD's at brick-and-mortar stores with an axe or anything - and he certainly isn't forcing anyone to download music, either.

Just because we can buy music online, doesn't mean everyone does, I always buy my music in CD form, I wouldn't blindly walk into a store and buy based on the album art though, I sample music online, heck most of the stuff I listen to, I wouldn't even know about if it wasn't for the internet. To the people complaining about albums only having 1 or 2 good songs, out of the 70 or so CDs I have, I have only had a few that had any songs that I didn't like, maybe you need to try some different genres or artists?

The fact that Bon Jovi thinks he made good music is the real reason why the music industry went bad. He was a glorified pop singer of the 80s.

Really? Tell that to Joe Satriani. He'll get a good kick out of that. Google the old top 80s bands and you'll see they're still alive and kickin'. The old times, for music, stay alive as long as you listen to them and promote what you listen to to others. Expecting everyone to just know about the old times is an immature concept in itself.
