Q6600 and SLI GTX460's?

Thread Starter
I am considering picking up 2 Asus GTX 460's from a friend and want to know if there will be any bottleneck in my situation.

I am running a Q6600 at 3.0ghz
I have 8GB DDR2 800Mhz ram
All on an Asus P5Nt-Deluxe Nvidia Nforce 780i 3x SLI mobo.

Any advice or tips before I pull the trigger on these bad boys?

Found this answer Wartaco,

"Forget about bottlenecks.
It varies per application.

There is always a bottleneck, no matter what configuration it is.
Don't worry about it.

Just ask yourself the question:
Will a Q6600 and a 460 provide enjoyable framerates in the games you play?
As long as the answer is a yes, then there is nothing else that matters. "

Are you OCing your chip? What resolution are you gaming on?

It will depend on the game, but in general games are far more heavily GPU dependent than CPU dependent, you shouldn't really feel much pinch if you are OCing as its a powerful quad chip.

imo you would need the Q6600 at least 3.6GHz but higher would be better

Q6600 Stock: 2.4ghz
Q6600 mine: 3.0ghz, going to push it to 3.2ghz for the 460gtx's

I have dual 1080x1920 monitors, (24 inch LED) I usually try to stick to that resolution, and only game on a single screen at a time. (windowed mode 90% of the time)

I am going to def go for these then.
I am currently running 3x 9600GT's (2 in SLI, 1 in Phys-x) and want to be rid of them.
