guy is asking about sli gtx460 with a Q6600 and no one said to him, it will be a bottleneck

So it won't be too much of an issue then?
Trying to understand the grammar (long day at the office DNS issues abound, headache massive)

i can tell you from experience with my spare rig running 4601gb versions in sli it is at 3.6ghz no bottleneck 3840x1080 duel screen res.. at stock i did get a slight bottleneck at 1280x1024 res when going upto 1680x1050 no bottleneck even at stock on 1920x1080 no bottleneck even at stock..

if you want to know other gpus that work well in sli without bottleneck here is the list one ones ive tested no bottleneck on all the above res except 1280x1024 everyone tested bottleneck bad even @ 3.6ghz..

gtx260, gtx285 , gtx460 gtx470 gtx560ti

ones that bottleneck at 1680x1050

gtx480 gtx570 gtx 580 anything above that i.e 1080p or above see major improvements in sli and you guessed it NO BOTTLENECK but thats with a 3.0ghz clock..

hope this helps someone biggrin.gif

I had the same setup as op but clock to 3.6ghz and 950 core on the gpus and never had problems. Its a very sweet setup.

like others are saying you will get a cpu bottleneck unless you go to 3.6ghz or higher. my q6600 bottlenecks my gtx275 and 4890 unless i overclock to 3.4 (max on this mobo) you might as well upgrade cpu while you're at it.

no depends what res only get a bottleneck below 1680x1050.. your probably running 1440x900 res...see major bottlenecks on well nearly every gpu tested...even with my i7930 and i72600k...

to not get a bottleneck need to be above 1680x1050 res and 3.0ghz minimum...

this is sli performance testing best scaling gpus will list from top to bottom

gtx560ti
gtx460 768mb and 1gb versions
gtx 570
gtx480
gtx580

3.0 is going to hold them back. But honestly, don't worry about it unless you play a game that's having performance issues.

I'd want to be at 3.4-3.6 personally, 3.0 is at the slow end of gaming speed.

My motherboard sucks for OCing and I am now broke.
So unless I can get a better 775 SLI mobo cheap/new cpu I am stuck with staying at 3.0 which my rig just kicked out all my settings the other day after I accidentally knocked the cmos battery out re-arranging stuff inside my case.
(dont ask..)

Yeah so I am stuck at stock now, with no clue in hell as to how to OC it (I had mass amounts of help when I did it last year...TT^TT)
