Weird cmos problem

Thread Starter
My x58 pro has been giving me problems pretty much ever since i upgraded from windows xp to 7. It will sometimes reset itself completely, reverting all the bios settings to stock. Other times (more common) it will only reset the clock, and most of the time (about 4/5 extended periods of being turned off) it will start up completely normal with no problems. I have tried changing the battery and had no luck. Also something weird I noticed is whenever windows starts after the cmos fails, all of my start up programs will have invisible icons in the tray and will be uninteractable. This is easily fixed by logging off and then back on. Is my cmos dieing on me?

Sigh...one of my pet peeves...it's DYING, not "Dieing." Typing "Dieing" makes you look like you're age 12. And try clearing the CMOS with the power supply unplugged, then flash or reflash the latest bios (have the bios ready before you clear the cmos).
