If you are a user of the Steam PC/Mac game download service, you really need to read its subscriber agreement, part of which says that the account user is not allowed to "to sell or charge others for the right to use your account, or otherwise transfer your account." A Steam account user found that out the hard way, according to an Ars Technica story.
A month ago, the unnamed user posted up a note on Reddit asking for offers to sell his account with over 140 games worth about $1,800. About a week or so that same user got an email from Steam's owners Valve stating that his account has been suspended for violating its subscribers agreement, even though the user had not actually sold the account. Valve has since posted up word in its forums that the account in question has been reactivated. So the lesson for today? Even the act of posting word about possibly selling your Steam account could get that account shut down.
