[BD] Steam user loses and gets back account; planned to sell it with $1,800 in games - Page 3

Help me out; is not a Steam subscription more like renting the privilege (license) to use a game?

Alright, this person trying to sell their Steam account isn't very smart. I'm sure he left his account name, email, et cetera in the pictures of the account. I'm on a Black Market forum for many games, account sales, goldfarming that usually aren't allowed in the game. But this guy probably didn't blank out their Steam ID, name, email, and other things that could have given his account away. Also, that person isn't very bright for posting their account for sale on a website like "Reddit".

Bingo. Dude must have had the account name in the ad.

Set the HTPC's account to "offline" (after starting each game once). Problem solved. Well, unless she likes indie multiplayer -- in that case, you're stuck setting up a separate account and hunting the 80%-off sales for her.

There's a reason my steam password is longer than my bank password. It's worth more.

I'd never sell it though.

Well duh. That guy is an idiot for doing that. You sell steam accounts in private. Everybody knows that.

It is (almost) entirely stupid that you cannot sell your account. If I have purchased the games, I should be able to do with them as I please. If that includes selling them, fine.

I can go out and sell a DVD based game, right? The exact same game, made by the same company, simply purchased differently.

Although I am a minor steam user, due to the extremely good deals, I must say that cloud computing is a poor idea.
There will be far more problems related to cloud computing later on.

Cloud computing, such as steam, is like renting something. I can give them money in exchange for a product, but I do not own it.

If you cant follow the rules then too bad. He is lucky they didn't take away his account. They would be well within their rights to do so. I do believe it would be nice if steam would let people sell their accounts or trade games or sell games etc, but oh well. Maybe they will think of something eventually.
