so which monitor better if i use only single 580? not too expensive one

I don't own any 120Hz monitors, my Dell is an IPS. But the monitor/display section has plenty of threads on them.

I think BenQ and the Acer are the most recommended when it comes to high refresh rate TN panels, but I'd read up there before deciding.

When I mean "playable" frames rates @ 1080P, I mean everything is maxed with AA, Tessellation, etc with FPS > 60 at all times. So imo, someone with a single 1080p monitor and a speedy rig can definitely benefit from a high end card.

Some people like playing games over 60/75hz.

They're not a complete waste, but the majority uses 60hz monitors.

but 120 Hz should be water smooth haha
too bad it's ridiculously expensive and most of them have bad image quality i heard

Yeah his mistake for not making it clear enough. I think he meant 1080p.

Not true. One 6990 has 4GB.

That's what I thought. The 6990 doesn't have 4GB VRAM per gpu does it?

Yes, but not it's overkill for games that are coming out in the next 6-8 months though, so it's not overkill.

But isn't it a waste if the power isn't necessary today and that same card will be much cheaper by the time you can actually receive any benefit from it?

4GB total yes but the 2GB frame buffers for each core are mirrored. The 6990 is for all intents and purposes two slightly underclocked 6970s on the same board, except nothing more, nothing less performance wise on a clock for clock basis regardless of resolution (driver issues aside).

um i can max out crysis. and i payed absolutley nothing for my cards (got XFX as RMA, got MSI in a trade for my GTX275)
so yeah i win wheee.gif

im using 2 cards and getting similar performance of a GTX570. its not a waste or overkill at all!
there is no such thing as waste in OCN. the only thing that is waste is a 6990 on a 1024x768 monitor with a crapburst Penti 4 powering it.
