Not exactly ylod but please help

Ok I can play blackops for maybe 5 mins online then my ps3 crashes with a yellow light (not ylod already experienced ylod) then starts blinking red. When i press the power sensor it stops blinking and then when i press it again it turns on like normal. Then I get a message telling me that i did not turn off my ps3 correctly even though the ps3 is the one that turned its self off. But anyways every time i try to play Black ops online (haven't tried single player yet) it just crashes. Really annoying and making Black ops not worth while. Ive been having annoying ps3 problems ever since i got Black ops (Ylod... now this annoying problem). I know its most likely not Black ops and its probably a hardware problem but I really don't want to send my ps3 in to get "Fixed" (refurbished) for $150 bucks. So please help and leave a comment.
Thanks

P.S. My ps3 is an original 80 gig had it for a couple years. I also want the cheapest way possible to get my ps3 going again.

Sounds like a cooling problem to me. Did you try replacing the thermal paste?

Well, a PS3 my little brother bought had the same problem but ours didn't turn on at all afterwards so I can't really help you out. Our problem was on a PS3 that someone fixed after the ylod (bought it second-hand and he said no problems at all) but they half-assed it and used crappy thermal paste and ours was definitely heat related, it died a death after about 15 minutes of leaving a game on the menu-screen... I'd replace the paste but it is a pain to do so maybe get a second opinion first in case I'm way off. That's my 2 cents anyway

Edit: should've said, When I came back in to start gaming it was boiling hot which is how I know it was a heat thing. As in Boiling hot, not just normal everyday heat that the original PS3 puts out

Hmm i guess black ops is too good for my ps3. I tried mw2 to see if it was just black ops or if it was another games to. mw2 ran perfectly fine and i played it for an hour or so online.
