lol. I am not on anybody's side man. I have been thinking to switch to GTX580s and was expecting a lot from GTX590 is all. However, I forgot Nvidia makes egg cookers. lol.
I installed a 6990 in a customers rig a few days ago, Jesus that card is loud at load. Made my GTX 470s seems like a ocean breeze LOL...
Lets pray the 590 isnt AS loud ( we know it will be )
Side note, The 6990 overheated while playing Metro 2033 last night.
Customer called me mad as a hornet.

( I dont want to hear "Custom fan profile !!L!@@1! " , I use one, He doesn't and shouldn't have to )
Cards should be able to keep themselves cool out of the box, Period!!
The gtx 295 was dual gtx 275's, not dual 285's. If it was dual 285's on a single pcb, then it would be the same situation. Nvidia simply can't keep the power consumption levels on their cards down, which is why they suffer for less performance/watt.

Agreed. I'd never mess with custom fan profiles on a client pc. I do make sure hot cards have lots of good airflow.. you never know what kind of cramped space the client will place the pc.
On topic: Even if its clocked at 600mhz, I'd watercool it and go from there.

At least it won't overheat playing Metro 2033 with those clocks.
Seems to me that AMD was a little ambitious with their core speeds and didn't realize that video cards shouldn't be running routinely into the high 80s playing games on the stock core clock.
