Mr first Video camera

Thread Starter
Hi guys. I have absolutely zero knowledge about video cams so im gonna need some help here. I'm looking to get a video cam for recording dance and wakeboarding purposes and also the occasional funy events in my daily life.

Any suggestions on what i should get? Is there a difference beween camcorders and video cams? I'm currently in australia, so my budget is from 0-800. Maybe 900-1000 if it is really worth that bit more cash.

I definitely prefer a full HD recorder, sufficient optical zoom and a good anti-shaking mechanism. good lighting sensors and high MP camera functions are a plus too. What would you guys recommend? are there any other features that im missing out on?

Edit: Water Proof would be an important addition.

Not sure about the prices, but the Canon HF-S200, and Panasonic HDC-TM700 are good choices for an all around camcorder.
