Is this a good P67 motherboard

Hi

I need a motherboard for a 2500k.
And the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5-B3 seems to be the one for me
But that's only if the bottom 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (running at x4) is fast enough for a GTS450 used for PhysX

So my questions are.
Is it a good motherboard?
And can I use the bottom PCIe 2.0 slot for a GTS450 as a dedicated PhysX card

Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5-B3 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) Motherboard - B3 Revision
Core i7 / i5 / i3 Support, ATX, DDR3 (max 16GB), 8 x USB3, 8 x USB2, 2 x SATA 6Gb/s, 4 x SATA 3Gb/s, 2 x eSATA, RAID, Firewire, 2 x SPDIF, 7.1 Audio

Thanks AC

Thanks bud, I was hoping

And am I right in thinking that board will be fine with four sticks of Ram?
(Kinda hoping that's why it has four Ram slots )

Good motherboard, terribly overpriced. If you have the money though, I guess that's a non-issue. Personally, I went with an asus board myself, and I'm sending my gigabyte p67 board back. I missed asus too much. lol

Also, keep in mind that if your planning on using the bottom x4 slot for a graphics card, don't plan on using any other expansion cards. Since the x4 is running off the chipset, not the cpu, it will give all the bandwidth to the graphics card in the x4 slot, and none to the rest of the pci-e x1 slots.

Absolutely it will run 4 sticks just fine. Running 4 sticks ( vs. 2 higher capacity sticks ) can hinder your overclock (not by much if at all, varies). It puts a bit more stress on the IMC, pretty simple really .. So if you can, I would get 2 sticks > 4 , But if you want 4. Go for it

One of my reasons is because of my GTX480 being a 3 slot cooler

If I go Asus P8P67 Pro my card will be a bit close together

Sabertooth > Pro.
Ive had the Pro, The Sabertooth, and the Biostar TP67XE..
All around the Sabertooth is the best of the three, By a long shot ( IMO disclaimer )
Build quality, Features, Bells and whistles, Bios stability, Overclockability.
I would take the Gigabyte over the PRO. The PRO is god awful ugly too..

These are my opinions only..

I don't think heat should be that big of a problem with that 3-slot cooler of yours. I would still go with a cheaper motherboard if you can, don't forget the asus p8p67 boards also have an extra x4 slot at the bottom for physx cards and what not, and cost less.

You forget prices, the sabertooth is too expensive for what it is, 8 phase power and a thermal vest? The pro has 12 phase power and many of the same features the sabertooth has at a lower price. And what do you refer to when you talk about build quality?

If your talking about features, the evo blows the sabertooth out of the water for $10 less, and for around $20 more, the deluxe crushes it as it has 16 phase power and all the bells and whistles you could want, many more than the sabertooth.

the Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67 Has a PCIe 2.0 x16 (running at x4)

I don't care what it looks like
That helps my budget

I got the Sabertooth for $194 out the door...

And It is a better board than the PRO, Plain and simple. It overclocks better, probably because better components are used. When it comes to phases and VRMS, Quality > Quantity...
LOL you kids buy your "military class, and 240 UBER POWER PHASE!@!!!!BBQ!! boards "
Ill be enjoying my boss over here.... Whats funny tho, Is my measly little 8 phases are more than capable of delivering wayy more than safe amounts of power to my chip, without breaking a sweat ( notice the VRM temps in the screenie ( VCORE 1 & 2 ) ).. Talk trash all you want man. I like Asus too, But you need to stop going around spouting off that the sabertooth is teh suck just because you cant afford it..

OT: I would still pick the Gigabyte, That or wait for the EVGA P67 ( Kinda wish I had )
