if there is only $10 in it, get the Antec 900.

Cheap 3+1+1 MSI motherboard with what looks to be really cheap unheatsinked NIKOS MOSFETs + Sandy Bridge + most likely intention to overclock heavily
Not sure if good or iz teh bad idea

So the motherboards the problem? What would be the best socket 1155 motherboard for less than $150? What about for less than $125?

What about the ASUS P8P67 LE B3?

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...083&CatId=6978

I have just always been warned to stay away from Biostar, and the Gigabyte didn't have very good reviews and is the same price as the ASUS.

Any of those 3 1155 boards look fine, although I like the look of the Biostar myself. Looks like 4+1 power? 8 pin cpu is a nice touch.
It's so little!

I am told that all of the current motherboards out there for the i5 2500k have a problem with their SATA II ports. Is this true? If so, would the issue still persist if I just plug in my SATA II devices into the SATA III ports on the motherboard?

H67 does not allow for any overclocking... therefore Gigabyte's beefy VRM there is actually really quite useless.
Biostar VRM quality is often much more decent than MSI though and heatsinks are an extra plus.... should be fine

Or perhaps (now that I think of it) it is indeed 4+1 since P67 does not support the iGPU (so it won't be 3+1+1 phase).... Sandy Bridge CPUs are 95W at stock, so I'd think it'd be somewhat safer

OK, after some good advice here, I think I decided to go with an Intel build instead. This is what I am looking at right now:

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912

PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 550W *already purchased*

Motherboard: Asrock Extreme4 P67 - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.as...P67%20Extreme4

Processor: Intel i5 2500k - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...5072&Tpk=2500k

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314

Hard drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-185-_-Product

Video card: SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770

Disk drive: ASUS DVD burner

Any thoughts?
