Hmm, seems it might be safe to start an RMA now, buy possibly the hx750? Then just send the 650 back when I get it... hmmm

@OP You will be fine with a 650w, you have plenty of overclocking headroom.
My 460 consumes around that on load last time I checked.... lets get real here.

You will be ok with a nice 750. Are you planning on adding another 580 in the future?

You ninja edited.

Those figures are taken at the wall; not counting efficiency. The second link is showing total system power consumption... and an overclocked 2600k wouldn't top 200w either.

No it doesn't.

You're more than fine. Your GPU + CPU @ max load won't consume more than 450. Feel free to OC too.

Just to add some info to this post:

I'm currently running a 2600k @ 4.2 + OC'd 460 1gb. on my sigrig (my hx1000 died) on a SilverStone Strider 400W.

Possibly in the future, but not right now. If I choose to do so then I'll just sell the PSU I get and get a larger one.

Curious about the others saying that 650hx is perfectly adequate though... for overclocking, etc ,etc...

Quote from the power consumption chart for bit-tech: "Watts at socket, lower is better"

That's overall system consumption.

yes, HX650 is a good PSU and will handle it as long as you don't take off the Nvidia OCP thing on the 580
