Whats up with 1920x1080 - Page 2

What is this... the 1080 is an standard resolution as many of these guys had stated.

Anyways, i don't think that 120 more vertical lines would make a huge diference.

Yes they do exist.. they cost a bit more and a mostly seen on larger sized monitors. If desk space is what you want, be creative and use a projector

It's the manifestation of console ports in your PC hardware.

I would rather have modern high res 3:4 screens, 16:9 is way too short.

i dare you to use a resolution of 1920X480 for the rest of the week.

Moron, vertical space is one of the most important ergonomic features of a monitor third only to screen tilting and no flickery stuff (meaning backlight or dithering)
First off, relax. No need to toss around insults. The extra 120 extra vertical pixels won't do much to usability. It's nonsensical to compare 1080 to 480 vertical pixels.

No, you do not want to run a LCD at non-native resolution.

Best answer. 1080P being the standard is actually making it more affordable. I paid close to 1200 for a 2407wfp dell monitor in 2006. 1080P is just more affordable.

Buy a 1920 X 1200 if you want that resolution. Both are available.

I've always used 16:10. My laptop is 16:9 though, and I honestly don't feel like it's that gimped.

2560x1600 currently, 1920x1200 previously. I see black bars in movies but that doesn't bother me at all.

Or as someone else mentioned buy a monitor that can go portrait, then switch to that when you're working

1080p is the new standard for resolutions which is why youre seeing more monitors in this aspect ratio. If you have a 1920x1200 monitor you can always turn scaling off and run it at 1920x1080 resolution and it will give you black bars at the top and bottom of the screen but not distort the picture.

This thread is retarded. 1080, because. That's all, it's the standard. Noob
