Thread Starter
I change it to 24hz through catalyst control center. But windows is choppy and the video has no improvement.

Thought abou trying vlc but was told that wouldn't make any difference

I have the same setup and you need to set your htpc to 24hz when watching bluray.. this will only work when watching a bluray that was recorded at 24fps and you must use cinema mode on the tv.

If your trying to watch Hulu, etc.. at 24hz it will be choppy. Also for normal streaming turn off the real cinema effects are it will be choppy. When I first built my HTPC I had an 8800GT in it and assumed it just wasn't a good card, bought my current 4850 and still did it. It took me a couple weeks but I finally figured it out.

I had the same problem in XBMC with my 120hz vizio. All I did was check "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" and then go into CCC and change the overscan settings for each refresh rate so that it fills up the screen on each setting. Now the TV adjusts itself the second I select a movie. This is in XBMC but it's probably the same problem. If you can't get it to play smooth in media center maybe try XBMC.
