5850 Weird Issue

Thread Starter
Hi,

I have got this system a month back. I get random blue screens. 90% while playing games. Sometimes computer just freezes. Then when I restart my PC, monitor show no video signal (no display). When this happens I don't hear GPU fan running.
Then after some restarts, switching PSU off/on, display come back.

I'm planning to run memtest tonight. Could this be GPU issue? Is my graphics card faulty?

Latest CCC (11.2) is installed.

Thanks for help

Use MSI afterburner, ramp up the fan profile and monitor temps, mine will crash at anything above 80 and they can reach that with the default fan profile.

Does MSI afterburner work with XFX cards?

Actually I monitored the temps and fan speed.

when playing games GPU temp is around 60-67% and fan speed is around 30%.
CPu temp is around 30c. Isn't that normal?

UPDATE: I installed new Windows 7 64 bit SP1. While playing game after 10 minutes, the video input signal to monitor just vanishes. It shows "No VGA signal". But, the PC stays ON. No blue screens as of yet.

What's happening here?

I called up my dealer. I told him that blue memory slots on the board seems to be faulty.

His engineer said they are not faulty. It might be happening because of FSB. Black slots have different FSB.

Is this true? I don't understand this FSB thingy...

+1. The guy is a moron. You've faulty RAM slots and he's trying to talk his way out of it.

So all the memory slots are supposed to have same FSB, right? And they all should be able to run my DDR3-1333 RAMs, right?

My system is only 45 days old! I would ask for replacement if this FSB thingy is not true.
