1090t not stable with m3n72-d

post #1 of 8
Thread Starter
I can not seem to successfully oc the thuban at all and keep my system stable. Ive tried and researched a lot and I just dont know why I can't have stability oc'ed. I thought It was my bios settings at first but just simply using the multiplier i can only get to 3.6ghz stable well not really its stable for about 15 min. on full load then bsod shows its face. I can get the bus up to 235 stable but I have to compensate the multi to keep cpu under 3.6 then I can have my oc but at just under 3.6 that cant be right can it? I'm thinking I may have a bad component or an overlooked bottleneck. voltage does not seem to bring any stability to anything ether. I also, though, have not seen much fluctuation in the temps when I try higher volts. but going past recommended scares me a bit. i tried it up to 1.55 volts on the vcore w/ only about 2 3 degree rise in temp. but no added stability at all so no increase in oc. what is wrong? please help. Oh yeah my cpu runs about 15c idle and about 23c 24c under load according to Core Temp .99.8

Hi.

1- Do you have the latest BIOS version?
2- Did you disable C1E, Turbo Core and Coo'n'quite on BIOS?
3- You have a BE CPU, so, you don't need use the FSB unless that you want overclock the RAM.

1. yes 1510 is the latest bios. 2. turbo core is not available and cool n' quiet is disabled. though I'm unfamiliar with c1e. and yeah I know about the multiplier which I thought it would at least go up to 20x for a quick stable 4ghz oc (saw vid on youtube w/ the ch4 board) but I cant seem to get the multiplier past 17x stable. plus it makes me lower it if i touch the fsb almost like anything past 3.6 is the problem no matter how I go about it. or so I hope the problem is how [U]I[U] go about it.

the ch4 board is a better board and native am3 and the m3n72-d is a am2+ board w/ updated bios to am3. I really dont want that to be the problem just bought 6gb of ram in ddr2 for this. as well others seem to oc other amd processors on this board past the 4ghz

Thanks 4 the reply

Install AOD and go to "performance control" tab, you should see there the "Turbo Core" option, disable it, reboot the rig and try again.

Nevermind, you are right. Your mobo is nVidia chipset and AOD only works for AMD chipset.

ok, so this is what i tried:

1. nb multiplier @ 11x = 2200mhz

2. cpu multiplier @ 18x = 3.6

3. K8 <-> NB HT Speed @ 2ghz

It successfully ran prime95 for 3:45. now I have an oc but at 3.6. the key seemed to be keeping the K8 <-> NB HT Speed @ 2ghz. now I'm unsure if I should raise all with the same ratio or since I left the bus alone try to raise that a bit or maybe try to overclock the ram then raise everything a little. everything seems to be very touchy and dependent on what I have everything else at. any ideas on the next step would be greatly appreciated Thanks
