Crysis 2 Demo Loved?? - Page 2

-Its a ported console demo
-Most games dumb down the graphics in MP

Im still hoping the full games SP will have better options.....

In any case the demo was fine IMO, game play was ok, graphics were good (Not Amazing like C1) but hell of alot better than MW2, I still don't get why people are crying over it.
Spent about 15 minutes playing the demo so I never felt the urge to review it..

Guess people who liked it spent time actually talking about it/ playing it and the rest of us just moved on and are waiting the actual game to come out..

Best part about the C2 Demo was the price....

I can't get myself to spend £26.99 on the full version of Crysis 2. Not after what I saw and played in the demo (I currently don't even want it free...). I'll wait for a whole ward of screenshots and videos of the actual single player gameplay before I decide anything.

Umm it is good. Just because the visuals aren't superb in every aspect, doesn't mean the game sucks. The game has very fun gameplay (although the controls are similar to the likes of COD, the nanosuits capabilities are like the guy says in the intro, a real game changer) , the visuals are actually alright, and I actually have't found one laggy game yet.

Want to look at a game that sucks? Try E.T, THAN COME BACK TO ME.

I liked the demo. I feel it was a port for sure but jeez watching any of the trailers for it my jaw drops! I just hope it supports DX10.

I don't know, I just don't see the "very fun gameplay". It lacks depth and is tremendously repetitive with little feel for actual action. This is made worse by the ridiculous console 6 vs 6 player limit.

And I agree that graphics don't make the game alone but the graphics here are disappointing, to say the least.

Like I said it is the nanosuit that adds a massive amount a depth into the gameplay. You can scale to anywhere in the maps, you can sneak up behind fireteams and take them out behind their backs, or you can pummel all of them at once with an air stomp! These are just a FEW of the expansive scenarios you can go through. you can do a whole lot of more things with just this thing on your back....

One flaw I have to admit about this game though, is the fact that you could play it like COD. you could just grab a shotgun, and sprint across the whole map killing everyone. Yea, you CAN play it like that. And most of you frankly did play it like that. But once you tap into the nanosuits features more you can actually play the game with a whole new gamestyle making it really fun.

Also I read your review, and I guess this is my response.

Your first part about the lack of a 3D environment can be explained quite rationally. Basically Crysis was in the works for a LONG time, so they could make their own custom BSP shapes for mountains, rocks, etc. With manual BSP shapes, they were able to make their own realistic 3D Geometry. Crysis never really had a deadtime or whatever it is called, it could have released today and we wouldn't have cared because the game wasn't really that anticipated. BSP Brushes take A LONG time to manually make, which is why normally developers just use Static Meshes and apply Bump Mapping. But these guys had all the time in the world, to make their own BSP brushes and to make their scenes look natively 3D which looks yes great! But Crytek aren't what they were in 2007 anymore, they I think are now full AAA developers and they have deadlines (THATS THE WORD XD), so they don't have all of that time to make their own BSP brushes and apply their own geometry and so they have to go the safe route by using Static Meshes and applying Bump Mapping. Which is ALRIGHT, you are making it seem like it looks 2D or something which is a complete fallacy. But it just doesn't have the same effect as Crysis geometry. Also we have seen the DX9 variant. the DX11 will have HEAVY TESSELLATION which is basically the next step in bump mapping. It will make objects look amazingly 3D without having to make custom BSP brushes. And also like many have said, this is multiplayer. Therefore the visuals have to be brought down a level due to server bandwidth caps.

With your gameplay you are basically saying that they made a snail into a slug. Not much of a difference here. To be frank, Crysis's gameplay wasn't that fun in and out of itself. Both gameplay mechanics are actually quite close. The only evident thing different is the selection of nanosuit functions which NOW IS GOOD. It is WAY better than before.

First off WHO USED Strength mode, other than to scale big rocks. It was very rarely that you used Strength mode to actually beat up someone. So not much of a loss when they took out Strength mode. Speed mode is tightly woven into sprinting in fact it is sprinting, and not much of a loss here either.I mean I only used Speed mode WHEN I WAS SPRINTING. So now it is like killing two birds with one stone. Armor mode is still there, but now it is accessible through hotkeys, which is way better. It makes the gameplay a LOT more seamless and fun. I don't want to spend ONE MILLISECOND of my time in a Multplayer game, just to go through a menu and click what I want. First off there is always room for error, I could always pick Strength instead of Armor mode AND THEN I AM SCREWED. Second IT TAKES TO MUCH TIME..

"Guy shoots at me"

" HOLE ON, I NEED TO SELECT ARMOR MODE FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!"

Now it is very easy to select your modes and a lot more fun.

Reply I guess with what you think.

Oh no, I do agree that the streamlining of the nanosuit functions plays better now. I also agree that the nanosuit itself adds to the gameplay. However, I doubt very, very much that the single player graphics will blow your mind in comparison. If they do, I can shut up about it but I'm pretty sure the original Crysis graphics are going to outdo it entirely.

What I feel fails in gameplay is the way it feels. By that I mean the way it feels to walk around, shoot, reload, switch weapons, jump, etc. The animations, the physics, the mechanics and the game modes themselves all fail to do it for me. Game modes aside as these are multiplayer-relevant, the rest also translates directly in single player and I'm sorry but they truly feel like Call of Duty like to me, with a heavy case of consolitis (made overly simple).
