I was talking about 1080/1200p. Overall, it's faster but not by much and definately not worth the extra cost you would be paying.

"Value awards" at Hardware Canucks? Yea, that place sucks. They've been sucking off NVIDIA and EVGA quite a lot lately. How an overpriced card like this can get such recommendations, I don't know. I think that TPU and AnandTech reviews are the best. Hexus is also pretty good (UK-based!).

Here is something for you all. 2W less than a 6950.

The performance-per-watt is almost as bad as a 480 lol.

PCPer states, "Too expensive for what it gives". I agree, looking at their benches, it seems that you can get the same power out of a 5770 as this 550, at $50 cheaper, and for $20 more you can get 50% more performance with a 6850!

According to bit-tech review, the reference GTX 550 Ti was faster in all cases against HD5770 at 1080p resolution

On anandtech review, the reference GTX 550 Ti performed better in 5 out of 10 games at 1200p. But the difference in games that GTX 550 Ti won was bigger, so GTX 550 Ti is overall better.

That's not the point. The fact that it's not much faster than a 5770 from 2009 while costing a lot more is what is worrying. Could NVIDIA really not price this better? I would have expected at least GTX 460 performance out of this but it's not even there and then the price comes back. Overall this card is terrible until it has some major price cuts.

Yeah... Nvidia has been failing at lower-end products for some time. I had been contemplating putting a "550" in my secondary machine, but eh no thanks.

Razi3l: What stands out most to me on that chart? That a 6970 uses 105 watts more than a 6950.

Do keep in mind, that's an overclocked card, so the efficiency might be especially bad in those comparisons.
