what is steam tyranny? the ability to buy most games at often ridiculously cheap prices and download them at unexplainable fast speeds without having to install them is tyrannical?

No idea, iv never really had an issue with steam except for the friends list routine maintenance.

Ha... Steam is a great way for developers to protect their content and is a great one place stop for majority of games you want to play. Plus, most of the games on steam you can just go buy from the store if your not happy with its service, although, i don't know why you have a problem with it.

So please, stop complaining about something that doesn't even matter.
L4D was a good game in the early stage, later ruined with 4 weapons and no support. L4D2 was hyped to be better with better support and was the same. If they release a third before HL3 I will go mad. There was nothing that L4D2 built upon from L4D1 with the exception of more weapons (which felt exactly the same) and new maps, and different characters. Essentially it was the same game since the gameplay was the same, not always a bad thing but it got boring pretty quick.

I don't care if there is a seperate team for L4D or not, but they should stop releasing it every year and try to get out HL3 quicker, it's been long enough. L4D > 2 to me is just a rebrand and followed a similar fashion as the CoD games. Disappointing. And the 1 game which I thought was supreme (TF2), they now ruined with stupid items and hats and extra goodies you get for "buying other games" and in game items you can buy. The updates have also ruined the classes and it's not even fun to play anymore.

That's all my opinion, at least.

Again, completely missing the point. The Left 4 Dead team works on Left 4 Dead. Half Life team on Half Life. TF2 team on TF2. Pretty simple. And considering it's already been a year and a half since the release of L4D2, the argument of releasing a sequel every year is invalid as well.

L4D2 was a bit more than just new weapons, character skins, and maps. The director AI was completely revamped for the title.

You don't have to buy these titles, of course. I stopped playing TF2 after all the costume crap started coming out. And L4D/L4D2 I still play with friends. *shrug*

I never said that the L4D/TF2 teams should work on HL3, and some of the TF2 guys did work on L4D2 If I remember correctly. What I meant was that Valve should focus more on HL3 and I hope it comes out soon.. It's been a long time since HL2. And I never said they release a sequel every year, I meant that L4D2 was released a year after L4D1 and nothing major was changed so It felt like a CoD release.

I'm no professional to say, but I played L4D1 loads and I didn't see much of a difference in the AI.

Nobody said I did. My point was that I feel recent Valve games have been disappointing, and in my personal view they should focus more on HL3. What part of "my opinion" do people not understand.

And then they say, ok guys, L4D team is now dispbanded (or shrunk) and those people are working on HL2:EP3. Awesome, redistribution of company resources ftw!

I like Valve very much, mainly because of their attitude. And Steam is a dream. I can have all my games in my main rig, in my Media Center, etc, playing them everywhere I go, saved games across those PC's, games always updated, etc, etc, you can now even take screenshots without an external program (press F12) - one thing that would be really awesome would be a built-in recorder, benchmark and fps counter.

Regarding Left 4 Dead 2, I actually enjoy playing it more than the first one. The graphics are better, the characters are more developed, the AI is better and more challenging, the melee weapons are great, and the map design is much better than in the first game. Don't get me wrong, I also like the first game, but the sequel is better in every respect.
