I like Bioware... Mass Effect 1 quickly became one of my favorite games.

Instead of buying it on Steam, why don't you just buy the DVD.

Oh wait... I decided to do that with Bioshock 2, had several hours of trying to get games for windows to properly register my copy and then another hour of trying to get my profile configured to even play it... and when I went to the store to look for Bulletstorm, I saw it was a games for windows deal too and decided not to purchase it in the store.

Sorry, Steam is a godsend when compared to games for windows software.

Steam isn't just the lesser of two evils, it's downright easy to use and I've never had any issues with it. And when I change systems, I don't need CDs or DVDs and I don't need to find the manual or CD cover for serials. Steam just works. And it works pretty damn well, imo.

lol so its steam or gfwl? you know this isn't true. civ 4 had only a cd check. not even a serial code. i wish this happened a lot more often but unfortunately not all of us are honest consumers. i can't even purchase anything from steam atm because its screwing up on me.

I've hated EA since they bought Bullfrog studios and BURIED Syndicate......

Bioware WAS great. For me, they peaked at ME1, dropped a bit for DA:O, came back up with ME2 and then dropped a bit more with DA 2.

For me, each Dragon Age has what the other needed.
DA:O
-that garbage Lord of the Rings storyline
-incredibly boring fight scenes ( I would take a pee break while they were going on ),
-100% dominant mages ( cone of cold anyone? )
- no easy way to manage 10 inventory slots for my 10 friends ( i felt like I was doing someone's secretary job )

DA2
-the same maps OVER and OVER and OVER
-overly stupid AI ( using my rogue to kite a mature dragon to go in circles around my warrior? Head Qunari swinging at air for a good 2minutes while I gently sculpt his back muscles with my knives? )
-bad cutscenes instead of the epic in-game scenes
-plot issues that you can't change, fix or even slightly alter even if you do everything right ( Save the Keeper....by NOT doing the mission, maybe? )

Something about that story just didn't resonate with me. I felt it was just too damn cookie cutter. And it felt like they were trying to cram as much lore down my throat as they could fit.

And the action was very snoozeworthy. You could basically cone of cold your way through the whole game. 3 mages, 1 rogue, cone of cold ftw. I would literally go make sandwiches while I was fighting b/c it was so boring.

well isn't that what most stories are? lone hero saves people from evil or foreign force.

Precisely.
IIRC Valve bought Turtle Rock to develop left 4 dead, so that they could work on other projects without L4D being too intrusive.
