GTX 550 anyone - Page 2

@ LOL
What part of the island are you from? Im from Aguadilla but living in Phoenix AZ.

You can get 2 GTX 460 and get about 10k PPD more for the price of one GTX 560.

Your first post after mine was "crappy this, crappy that" then "5770 is faster/better".

Really??? You baited me, bravo. I'll qualify my OP:

Give a month or three for the price to come down.

It's not just the price. Look at the power figures. Considering it would fold 24/7 and suck the same amount of power in these charts, it's not an amazing card at all. The GTS 450 and GTX 460 are better be a long way in terms of PPD per watt and gaming performance/per watt respectively.

that's for an AMP which is running at 1Ghz on the core. Stock TDP for the 550 is only 116W.

IMO the 450 will still be the better deal for now (I got mine for only $80), but the price for 550 will probably go down as they get more stock and adjust to demand, making it a better option.

Wow, you're totally right, just because he's disagreeing with you instead of dry-humping the 550 he's definitely a troll.

You guys are friggin hilarious. IF I had posted this in the NVIDIA forum, or the gamerz forum, I wouldn't be getting like this; but this is the folding forum, and when a reply to an OP starts heralding the mighty 5770, and it's 1300PPD , I'm going to play the troll card.

Is it better then the 5770, looking at the graphics and price vs. performance, no...but for folding, absolutely. Yes, the 460 is still the go to card, but if these drop into 450 price territory then they'll be on top. If not, then it's a fail.

Yes, but it's not a huge overclock. Only 100Mhz, or about 11% over stock. Even a GTX 460 won't draw this much over "stock" with an 11% overclock :/
And NVIDIA tend to lie about TDP, as they said a 480's is 250W even though it was using 320W (look in that graph), so yea.

I agree with those above saying the the processing core are way more important then the GPU core and shadder speed yes they affect the graphics results but you can get a $50 or a $150 with the exact same speeds but the higher but ram and the more processing core or CUDA cores the card has the better!

Only one that seems to be trolling is you, IMO.
Exactly. At the exact same price, the GTX 460 768MB is the obvious choice.
