I await an e-mail reply from Asus regarding this. I provided my motherboard's revision, serial number, etc, etc, so they should very well be able to tell me whether this future BIOS update will hook me up.

You are not supposed to flash your BIOS to that until you get the AM3+ CPU. DO NOT test it with your x6 as you could seriously brick your mobo. The BIOS actually rearranges which socket electrical connects do what (i.e. ground, data, power) for the new AM3+ CPU. ASUS has already mentioned this.
Thanks for the advice. Will prob wait..... But have to ask at the logic of releasing a "TEST" BIOS for BD when there aren't any??..... Then telling you NOT to download it! there are people on XS running X6's with it without explosions etc!.

Also not sure what you mean when you say "it rearranges the socket electrical connects"..... i would think only a soldering iron/station would do that?? also where did ASUS mention this (for my own knowledge).

If this goes to plan ASUS/AMD could be on to a winner...... But i find it odd that my MoBo would have NOTHING to do with this BIOS (even though i verified it TWICE that it was the correct one?). Not trying to be funny just hope we don't get the Phenom AM2 "will it work or won't it issues". And again thanks for the advice.

Thanx.

I dont understand, will my MOBO be able to use Bulldozer? It says M4A87?
And mine is the 870 Chipset. But mine is the M4a87td EVO. Hope it is mine.

Indeed. I myself just want to verify with Asus that indeed my particular motherboard will be able to fully take on a Bulldozer CPU in the future (when the actual CPUs are out and when the BIOS update comes out of Beta).

I wonder, though, when would one flash the BIOS?
Say you're told that you need to flash only when you have an AM3+ CPU in the socket. Therefore, you remove the AM3 CPU, put in the AM3+ CPU and boot up to flash the BIOS. What if it doesn't POST because the AM3+ CPUs aren't recognised (until the BIOS is flashed)?
So you can't flash with the AM3 CPU and you can't flash with the AM3+ CPU because it won't POST. How then does one flash the BIOS? LOL

I'm sure I'm thinking too much into it. The best option will no doubt be to flash your BIOS with the AM3 CPU in and immediately after flashing, turn off the computer, put in your AM3+ CPU and you're good to go.

At this time it looks like Asus has not written a BIOS to support Bulldozer with that board. It could be as I've said before, that there may not be enough lanes to support Bulldozer.I don't know this to be fact but it makes sense as to the reason why many Asus boards will not get the AM3+ compatible BIOS.mellowsmiley.gif

Lol@ Gib007 that's just it kind of like the chicken and the egg:D. Have to ask if anyone else with my MoBo on here has successfully flashed to the 3012 BIOS..... Still don't understand why mine refuses BUT people on other forums (with my MoBo + X6's) are running it??? Seems a bit "weird"tongue.gif:D.

Thanx.

...... Ok don't i feel stoopid:o:p:o. I had downloaded the BIOS for the USB 3 variant of my MoBo..... Duh! However when i followed the link (PROPERLY... Honest:rolleyes:tongue.gif). My MoBo (minus the USB 3) don't seem to have a BIOS 3012.... Even though it says so in the ASUS AM3+ Announcement.

All there is for mine is BIOS 1801!!!! Can't see the inclusion of an NEC USB3 chip busting BD compatibility. Imho ASUS need to sort whats working for whom and sort out the state of there links. Seems a bit slapdash and rushed imho..... But great if it works out.

Thanx.
