UPDATE : Current Motherboards will not supporte Bulldozer CPUs

there was a rumor that mobos can supporte bulldozer with a bios update but it is not correct asus or any other manufacturers new boards will releas to support bulldozer with a modified socket

OK, here is all I know. When this all came up I asked the product manager if it was possible to put an AM3+ CPU in an AM3 board.

The answer was no.

There was no grey.

I believe that any data not coming from AMD should not be taken at face value.*

Ask yourself this: Why, if there was somehow a way to make it work with AM3, would we not have said that a few months ago when we made the statement? Why would we take the heat from angry AM3 users if it would work? Think that one through for a minute.

I am going to drop from these threads as I don't like being called a liar and I really don't enjoy spending my vacation time saying the same thing over and over.

AMD's position has been consistent and will remain consistent.

Good new for people that want an easy upgrade. Wish Intel would choose a socket type and stick to it!!

Question... All the newer AM3 boards, do they have the extra 3 pin count that BD requires? Anyone noticed?

I'm guessing they obviously do, but i figured that we would have heard more in regards to that by now.

JF-AMD is a server man, not client. But who knows to be honest, we won't till June.

Ok this is getting out of hand. The AM3b(AM3+) socket is physically is different than AM3. How on earth is this going to work? The only way it can is that there are two different BD CPU packages, one that has the 942 pins (AM3b, all features) and the one with 941 pins (AM3, less features). This is all speculation on my part.
