Then I do apologize sir, I probably mis-read what ya wrote as to imply that you had tried it too! But ya I've been poking into the ChIV Club thread of yours and reading some of the posts on it there as well!

I dunno, this mess convinced me to go Intel on my last upgrade round (to the old lga1156, but still an upgrade for me). I just wasn't going to get a mobo/platform that didn't support bulldozer, since Phenom II chips got massacred in Starcraft 2 & Black Ops reviews, I didn't want to be stuck with only them.

Then this news comes in..... argh. I still staying Intel until AMD cleans up it's mess. I don't care if it's the board vendors fault or now. AMD is seriously annoying me as an AMD customer with this silly and pointless cloak and dagger game over AM3+. It's also some 4 months before Bulldozer is supposed to be launched, and we still don't know what's up with mobo support. AMD reps say one thing. Their biggest board partners say another. This is tearing me apart on this. At least with Intel, I KNOW their LGA1156 socket will never get another update. LGA1155 is likely dead end at 4 cores. LGA1366 is EOL. AMD? I have no clue, and that lack of info is not convincing me to buy anything AMD right now.

Asus will more than likely not put out Crosshair V with this Zambezi CPU.

Asus just dumped a ton of new boards on us over the last year and I'm certain that their profit margin doesn't go to the very heart of this matter. Not that they aren't looking out for Joe Littleguy, it's just difficult to accept that is their main motive.

Why spend more money on R&D costs, advertising and support when you can dump some funds into the R&D side of things get a new BIOS and not worry about a socket that isn't necessary yet.

3 months is pretty close if you think about it.

This. I'm tempted to just switch to Sandy Bridge for certainty. We KNOW Sandy Bridge is a good chip, even with 4 cores it smacks the x6 around like that kid Zangief'd the bully.

I only really went back to AMD because of my money situation, and really miss Intel.

We don't know anything other than paper facts about Bulldozer, and even then they're sketchy. At least it was, I think 6 months or so before Sandy Bridge came out that it was confirmed, PHYSICALLY it will NOT work with 1156 sockets.

No problem. I just didn't want anyone thinking that I said something that I didn't. Appreciate the follow up. I didn't figure you intentionally stated that. It's pretty easy in this thread to get the facts twizted, what with all this speculation and bravado being thrown around.

I say BALDERDASH to the reviewers that trashed Phenom II over 2 stupid games. No offense but NO game not one uses 4 threads of code running at the same time. It's not yet done. So those reviewers were talkin out they azz and you fell right into their trap. I have no problems if you wanted something that would give you more oomph as that is what we all want.

But c'mon man you needlessly moved to Intel based on hyperbolic gobbledygook. And now you're here perpetuating it, no matter how innocently, regardless of AMD. I say AMD is CORRECTLY keeping their mouth shut over this with Ivy Bridge on the horizon. Intel will get their grubby mitts on their Zambezi chip soon enough. Why give them anything more than you have to? And if you know anything of the history of the Intel/AMD case, you would know that Intel is keen on doing anything and everything to remain at the top. I doubt that AMD will knock them off with Bulldozer, but it makes ZERO sense to tell them anything.

The MoBo vendors are doing enough of that as it is. AMD just wants to move us in the right direction to be able to give us more features. The vendors will only support that so long as it's not premature to their profit margin. Which it's looking like Zambezi going full on AM3+ might just fit that description.

AMD is going AM3+, Gigabyte is supporting this cause they have ZERO choice on the matter. They probably already had their entire product line in production and with the Sandy Bridge fiasco, had no interest in halting their production lines to a mid production run of AM3 capable boards that a simple BIOS would support. You're getting what you asked for only not in as clear a manner as you would like. So sorry.

your entire statement only supports what I just said, lol. "NO game not one uses 4 threads of code running at the same time" well.... doesn't that only amplify Intel's Turbo Boost and IPC advantage?

as for reviewer spewing jibberish, I did have an unlocked Phenom II at 3.8GHz that never produced the same framerates as my Intel i7 930 @ stock (not a fair comparison, but who cares, I was gonna be going mITX anyways) in Starcraft II, using a HD5770, so in the end, I sold off the Phenom II setup (on [H] or OCN? I don't recall), and went Intel for my mITX setup.

As for lack of info, we really had a lack of info on LGA1155, right? so little little leack info before launch. So few reviews posted by anandtech nobody before launch. While the timeframes aren't the same, it's just one pillar of how "in the murky dark" we have been in with what AM3+ and BD is really about. And what is AM3's relationship to them. Cause we have big names saying opposing figures, and that alone is not convincing me to buy anything AMD right now.
