UPDATE : Current Motherboards will not supporte Bulldozer CPUs - Page 5

Give me a date, that's all I want to know, I'm sick of speculating on Bulldozer already....

I just want the chip in my hand so I can torture it 8 ways to Sunday..

Is this reliable? JF-AMD, you there?

if you look at the socket on the gigabyte link page, it has the pin hole there. so they arent lying but its only for new rev boards. and you would loose features and things like that

Gigabyte will be releasing new AM3+ boards on 800 series chipset - however it seems AM3 won't be BIOS updated for AMD FX series. New rev 3.1 with AM3+ sockets are specifically being released along with rev 3.0 on original AM3 socket. It's on their official site, go see yourself.

So a BIOS update would be needed to run a BD on the older 8xx chipsets WITH the new socket. I think this is what is the basis of the confusion is, and it does make sense that BD is AM3b only, but if you place that AM3b socket on the current mobos and throw in a BIOS update: Bingo, BD compatible mobos!!
OMG THIS.

We don't need JF-AMD to confirm anything. Why? BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAS! 9000 times already!

*calms down*

We really aren't going to go through this every time some random site posts a rumor, are we?

If this is true that's frekin awesomesauce. I won't hold my breath though.

lol,its only new boards with the am3+ socket glued on that will support it,kind of,lol, imagine your kitchen table if you will after tearing a leg off.Motherboard companies are just doing this to sell boards as no one in thier right mind would buy am3 this close to bulldozer. And why do you want a cpu with unusable features, lol, theres a company out there that specialises in that already if thats what your after,i believe its called intel.

Damn, this is hella confusing! First it was confirmed by JF saying Bulldozer will not work in AM3 boards. And now we're getting all these 890FX boards with AM3+ socket saying it would support with BIOS update?

Ugh! I will just wait till June then.

Hmm this really does need officially confirming or denying from AMD.

yup.
btw bulldozer works with the 8 series chippies, (proven by ASRock's AM3+ Deluxe 5 mobo) so this may be a reality.

lets wait. it may turn out to be what every1 was saying about slapping AM3b socket on old 8xx boards.
but who knows? i wanna sell my Callisto and get a Zambezi
