I was wondering what u guys think, he wont be overclocking it and im wondering if i should put a 1156 cpu i7 or i5, I was told hyperthreading was all that is differant between the two.

I can get the i5 for 209 at 2.8ghz or

i7 at 2.93 ghz for 289?

What do u guys think?

If You're not overclocking you better get a Sandy Bridge (non-K series) and you will probably end up at the same price in the end.

Then it depends on what he is using his pc for. HT is better but he won't benefit from it if he is just using his pc for mails, internet, office and even games. Pick one with Hypertreading if he's doing video encoding and stuff like that.

He will be playing games most likely on it... and maybe editing some youtube videos... is hyperthreading used in games at all yet?

nop, maybe in GTA IV at best. some games perform better without HT. very few games perform better with HT and the difference is negligible.

I would go with an i5 760 in that case, save some dough for a phat GPU and decent storage.

Up to now nearly no games even support it. But video editing can use extra treads.

Do u think within the next year and a half there will be any games that require more CPU than that?
