I'm not new to this "game" (pun not intended), I've fiddled round with nvidia settings, drivers, the works, get exactly the same results, every single time.
And one thing that is really really bugging me is my VF3000F, I've posted in the cooling forums about it, but failed to mention the fact that 40%-100% fan speed = no difference in temperature.
I've sat here for 3 hours now noting down what temperatures I'm getting, and basically, whatever temperature my graphics card is, half of the increase in temperature is what my CPU increases by. I don't think my case is pushing enough air out... as soon as I take the side off my temperatures drop by 6C.
I think the GPU is pushing the heat into the case, and for some reason, my case isn't dealing with it. Even though it's specifically designed to... For gods sake...
My case was £140, if anything has increased temperatures of my CPU
My graphics card cooler was £40, has reduced noise and temperatures a fair amount, but recently it's been terrible, idling at 46-50C. Used to idle at 33C. (could be due to ambient temperatures I know).
The H50 was £70, and has literally only reduced the noise levels of my CPU, from it's stock cooler...
I'm wasting my money here guys
£250 spent on cooling alone, I could have got a cheap liquid cooler for that with a case... :|
Infact wait, I've also spent £20 on fans, 2 of which didn't fit my old case, so they were wasted, then I bought 2 more fans for my H50, and they were £10 each, also got a shroud, that was £6, then I couldn't attach the shroud, spent £5 on screws, the screws didn't fit... so I used motherboard mounting screws with the H50 fan screws.
It's just getting beyond the joke... I've spent about £1200 overall, and I'm not reaping any benefits of having this sytem at all. YES, that is crazily expensive, but it's been over a year.
For £1200 I could have so much more, I'm beginning to think I was wiser before this build in not getting a desktop, and sticking with my laptop (if you want to see laptop specs check my profile).Edited by Roxborough - 3/15/11 at 10:28am
