What is your cpu/nb at in term of mhz
open up cpu-z go to the memory tab take a ss and post that please

Maybe his problem could be micro-stutter, i know not useal with a single graphics card but not unheard of i hink.

Also see if you got vsync enabled in those games where it doesnt feel smooth, half of my games dont run smooth either with Vsync on, even though it says a constant 60fps.
turn Vsync off to insure yourself Vsync isnt the problem.

Actually as a 470 user that plays RIFT, turning v-sync OFF caused some serious stuttering in-game while giving me a 12 fps boost (30 with v-sync, 42 without)

so I agree FPS does not always = smoothness

I've always said this. I don't go by the FPS. I go by how it feels, and I think Crysis 2 feels HORRIBLE. I can't aim for poo in that game! Even though I get 44fps +

Oh sorry man, I thought it would have had it on the link I already sent.

NB Frequency is 2160MHZ, usually fluctuates to .1-.2 every few seconds.

Here's the new link, (my ram isn't running at maximum, because I'm scared, I had to RMA the last 2 sticks):

I've not read the whole thread as i dont have time right now but, from the start a few things that spring to mind.

If you have after market cooling on your card and its still givng you high temps under load check youve fitted it properly too much/too little paste and you can see huge differences in temps also check there is adequate air flow from your case round the card.

The Raven is i think a good case but the stock fans on it are not so great I assume that in your £300 worth of cooling you have added plenty of nice powerfull case fans all over the place, thats great and all but make sure you have them set up in a way that is condusive to air moving in a sensible way through your case IE cool air in through the bottom hot air out through the top, you do not for example want 2 fans on the side of your case one in push one in pull as they just work against each other.

What is your current case temp and room temp? If you have good enough air flow there should barely be a few degree between them, if there is more than say 10c between them then you realy need to look at your airflow. A great cooler only give you good delta's it is not an active cooling solution best it could ever hope tyo achieve is matching the temp inside your case.

I notice you have a H50 ignore what corsair say and put the push pull sucking air out of the case, your cpu is unlikely to increase in temp and you will no longer be dumping all its heat into your case.

Okay, so how much does a 6870 cost over there?

A 6870 is slightly slower than a 470, so a pair will give you a good boost.

Can you not try the SLI hack on your mobo? B/c honestly I think adding another 470 would be your best option.

If you can squeeze in for a pair of 6950 1gb, definitely go for it. But I doubt you'll be able to w/ your budget. But in terms of single card, even a GTX 580 wouldn't give you big enough of a performance jump from a 470.

Well, aside from not being able to remove the two bottom fans, there are only 3 possible places for fans in the entire case, 2 180mm fans at the bottom, one for HDD's and one for the MB. 1 x 120mm fan at the top, which as I stated I have two CM Sickle Flow in push pull, pushing air out of the case, not "sucking air" in.

The ambient temperature of my room is between 21 and 26 degrees, depending on whether the heating is on downstairs or not. The max temperature of my graphics card is 75 degrees playing Rift. And as of my previous tests it has been 99C + on OCCT etc...

Currently my ambient is 26 degrees around the computer area, and towards the window it changes, closer to the 21 degree margin. I was thinking of moving my pc nearer the window, it is a velux window, and I am in the attic. Which is a bit stuffy sometimes. Can reach past 26 degrees in the summer almost 30.

My H50 fans are okay, with a fan>shroud>rad>shroud>fan>grill configuration. I have thought much of my cooling, and to be honest, it's all been a bit terrible... I also have a fan controller, the NZXT Sentry II. The temperatures shown from the temperature probes are as follows:

CPU: 36C internal temp: 44C CPU Rift load temp: 56C
GPU:38C internal temp: 53C GPU Rift load temp: 75C
HD: 21C internal temp: 23C
MB: 25 internal temp: 30C
Inside case case: 24C
Outside case: 26C

As I've said a few times, with my VF3000F there isn't enough space for SLI nor is there even a slot for it so, it's impossible, I'd have to get a large motherboard to do so. Which costs £70+.

A 6870 costs £175-190 here.
A 6950 costs £170-215 here.

So around: 281.1025 U.S. dollars

I may just wait for the 28nm cards to come out. But seriously, I probably do need a new motherboard, I got this one because of USB 3, 6gb/s sata III, and I like the ASUS features such as all the overclocking utilities etc... and I got recommended it for a 955BE, got told I could push it far with this board.
