Looking Help to OC Q9300

Well Im new to the site in general, have came here off and on throughout the years to read and look into things, never OC'd any comp though, just never had a comp worth while, i know the older ones sometimes need it more but finally feel comfortable to have a system i would like to increase the power with. older chipset so might be hard to find info, but here is a list of my hardware.

ASUS P5N-D Motherboard - NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI, Socket 775
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 OEM Processor 6mb Cache, 1333Mhz FSB
Ultra ChillTec Silver CPU Cooler - LGA 775/1366, AM2/AM2+/AM3
ASUS GeForce GTS 450 1GB GDDR5 PCIe DirectCU
Ultra LS500 Lifetime Series 500W Power Supply - ATX, SATA-Ready, PCI-Express, Lifetime Warranty
OCZ SLI-Ready Dual Channel 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2x2048MB)
Kingston HyperX 4096MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x2048)
(2) Ultra Performance 140mm Case Fan
(1) Ultra Performance 120mm Case Fan
Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced ATX Mid-Tower Case
AOC 2770Vh1 27"W 1920x1080 HD LCD Monitor W/Spkr

Installing this Week
Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W Continuous@40°C, 80Plus Bronze Certified
SAMSUNG Black Blu-ray Drive SATA Model SH-B123L LightScribe Support - OEM

My temps currently in bios is around 35c i would of thought to be lower but have tried 3 kids of thermal paste, and havent seen much variation. I know from what i read the p5n-D isnt ideal, but when i first started the computer i didnt plan to do much with it and came as a cheap 3 piece with case, psu. ive come pretty close to maxing the hardware for this motherboard besides a few things, so next step imo is to OC it. I am pretty computer literate, but never got into messing with voltages etc. sadly where i live havent ran into many people that enjoy tech stuff.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

image with older gfx card, and case, new case all wires are ran behind the motherboard etc. psu is on bottom in new case, this is more so to show cooler, current comp is at home, and im at work haha

I used to have a Q9300, multiplier is 7.5x right?

Not the easiest clocker for me to work with, should be able to hit 3Ghz though.

Multi 7.5x
FSB 1600,
Vcore ~1.35V
CPU FSB ~ 1.35V
CPU NB ~ 1.4V

I had an eVGA 750i FTW and it needed a lot of volts on the NB to get stable above 3Ghz.

little hint.. this cpu can serve up to a single gtx580 if overclocked to 3.5ghz or more..

the settings they told you are fine Use prime with small fft.. if it fails add lil more vcore to cpu.. run prime in blend.. if small fft do not fail but this one does, then add a little bit nbvoltage and try again until your system is stable. use realtemp for monitoring.. set tjmax to 100 in settings. try staying under at least 80°C max for the cores for 24/7.. 75°C would be better

ok.. goodn8goodf8

edit.. hey rook, sup m8 (;

So I will be building a computer for a friend of mine and in return he is buying me something for mine instead of cash, I was curious for some of you with more build experience if there is a motherboard i should look into with a 775 socket so i can still run my current specs just on a board with better oc capabilities and possible upgrades in other departments. If not a motherboard was thinking if there is a better cooler i should run, though i figure the one i have is good, im sitting at $100-150 for my upgrade after i build his.

got psu and burner installed, been researching the info you guys posted but some of it dont make sense, doesnt seem like i have the breakdowns of the FSB and such, cause someone posted 486 but mine is 1.33 which i understand theres a multiplier from somewhere that puts it to 1.33 but not finding the lower state, tried finding videos of doing it, but no luck, maybe someone has another helpful place to look. a guy had posted on youtube getting his q9300 to 3.5ghz but with water cooling, though he uses the probe software, where as i heard thats bad that you should manually set in bios.
heres pic of comp built new case etc.

The 1.33 is Quad pumped (1333/4 = 333Mhz base). So for example 400Mhz would be quad pumped to 1.60 or 1600Mhz.

I am not sure a good motherboard is going to matter much on a Q9300. You're going to hit a voltage/FSB wall on the chip fairly quickly as it has a low multiplier. Just be happy with 3-3.2Ghz, that should eliminate any bottleneck in your system. You'd be better off either saving the money, or upgrading your GPU which I don't think you would be able to do with that budget.
