So I actually cleaned my PC yesterday and reapply the thermal paste and I saw something that really gotten my nerves....My CPU Cooler isn't flat!!! What should I do? Help.....

As you can see there's a little bump in the middle and I think that's what caused my cpu temps to rise.....

Rise to what?

Could always lap it if you're paranoid.

A lot of CPU coolers are slightly convex to make better contact with the CPU's IHS. If it is really too much for you, you can always lap it. But it might not be worth the hassle. Are your temps fine as it is?

That's normal.

It wouldn't be worth lapping the heatsink unless you lap the CPU as well. I can guarantee you that your CPU isn't flat, and if it isn't, having a flat contact from the HSF won't do you much good.

Is this on idle or load? Idle temps don't mean much.

If this makes sense, how can I detect if it's( CPU) flat?
