MCP-655b with an EK D5 X-Top or 655B?

Thread Starter
well the 655B is worth 45 on the market while this comes with a top.

doesn't have a stand though so it seems so how would it even work? and which one is better?

I don't get it... You're asking the difference between the normal pump top and the EK one?

Yeah pretty much.

Well all i know that a top helps with pressure and flow.

Just wondering if its worth it to buy a pump w a top? Or just go w a pump w no top.

Aftermarket tops are always better with flow and pressure. I would say its definitely worth the extra money.

Indeed. They're not necessary if you're on a budget, but they're very useful.
And still, there's no point in going WC if you're on a budget so yes, usually a D5/DDC top is no-brainer.

Okay. Cause i am waiting for new cpu blocks and my wb for gpu is a ek dual serial

I.could add the nb and sb blocks thats on my board for default also.

Not sure if my computer will be on 24/7 either.

Better be safe w the top for better temps also. Just not sure how to place this pump. Can i attach a res to it?

What case do you have?
Also, nb and sb blocks aren't really useful unless you're planning some extreme stuff, same thing for ram blocks. They do however look great but also restrict flow.

The D5 is very different from the DDC's in terms of top performance. The stock top is a good performer so it really depends on your needs. Pricewise it may not be necessary until later, but if you've got a good deal I'd go for it- the EK top will improve flow, even if you don't notice it much in your small-ish loop.
