Internet Explorer 9 Font Problem - Page 2

Hello

Open regedit
Go here
[ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main ]
"UseClearType" = "no" <- make sure its same

Then you need the build a simple wrapper for dwrite.dll which intercepts and forwards calls to the real dwrite.dll, disabling font smoothing in the process.

You can find the code here
https://softwareninjas.kilnhg.com/Repo/Open-Source/Group/DWrite-dll-Wrapper

That's the only fix I know off till Microsofts fixes they're junk

actually the core issue is that IE relies on DirectWrite for text rendering and does not support any of the newer rendering options which would drawtext without anti-aliasing and respect the user's OS-wide default choices. Making things worse, if you disable ClearType in the OS, in some cases IE will fallback to DirectWrite's default non-cleartype anti-aliasing which is even fuzzier than ClearType.

When you disable cleartype from display settings, it changes all fonts system-wide and distorts them with "BOLD" fonts.

Disabling Smooth Edge fonts from performance options acts a little different. It makes the text simple. No outlines but it doesn't distort the text like when you disable ClearText.

Now Opera simply doesn't have any smoothing. It's crisp as it'll ever be. Chrome has some smoothing but it's not excessive as IE9 or Firefox. Opera and Chrome really look alike but I can notice Chrome's smooth fonts. One more thing, Chrome has ie9 bad smooth fonts on tab titles and bars(address, bookmarks) but not in actual pages.

I'll try as spoony suggested.

Firefox: see the red color emphasized on fonts especially on "Oh hai people" There're worse examples where it's simply super red mostly in smaller texts because letters are closer.

Chrome: doesn't have it.

Opera: doesn't have it.
