Why are every newly anticipated pc game sequel are just a console port now?

the quality of pc games is declining, For example Crysis 2 and dragon age 2, they looks like games from 3 years ago.

If they review both games 3 years ago, what would you and the critic rate them? 9/10 or 10/10?

but seriously Crysis 2 looks WORSE than Crysis 1, and now it's available to console, the reason Crysis wasn't on console, it's because those POS hardware can't handle it.

Don't even get started with Dragon age 2.... from junk graphics, bugs, reused dungeons and maps, fps problem with nvidia cards, tone down rpg, now it's just dragon effect 2 with repeating areas, imaging playing ME2 and every area you go it's the same XD yea that is dragon age 2 for you.

I blame piracy and consoles. Enough said.

PC gaming market is a niche market.
Companies need money.
Catering to niche markets doesn't generate money.
Ergo developing games to cater to PC gamers won't generate the revenue companies are after.

Unfortunate but true.

To play the best looking PC game I have to play a game from 2007 which is sad. The market has stagnated and probably wont be revitalized until the next generation of consoles is released because everyone knows that consoles is where the money is at.

The worst part is that hardware companies are/will suffer(ing) since it is useless to buy the best graphics card. I frankly believe that the release of 120Hz displays was just a way to justify graphics cards capable of running games at that speed even when, in general, graphically there is no difference.

Perhaps BF3 will buck the trend but right now I am truly concerned for the future of PC gaming.

EDIT: I have to add one thing. Also let it be known that I am all for multi-platform games, as long as each version has received the attention and development time that it needs/deserves. For example I would be fine with the PC version of Crysis 2 being delayed a month if that would mean that it would be a "true" PC version with graphics options, DX11, the whole works...I really don't like this trend of releasing games that have to be patched for them to be "de-consolified".

I stopped there, but I'll read the rest.

Are you implying that Crysis 2 looks like America's Army III, or The Witcher? Same with Dragon Age 2. Before I can take you seriously, I have to trust that you don't over exaggerate things, and this is a huge exaggeration...

Crysis 1 looks a lot better than Crysis 2 so it's not really a HUGE exaggeration especially for a game that is supposed to push the envelope. Can't comment on DA2 since I've only played the demo, but it looked crap and ran worse imo....

i'm saying Crysis 2 looks worse than Crysis not saying it doesn't look better than the other games you mention.

When a sequel comes out people expect improvements, crysis 2 only improves sales because it's now available for CONSOLE weeeeeeeeeeee.

yea me too, i dont hate consoles because that is another way for the company to generate revenue, but for the KING of gaming platform aka PC, how can you just do a console port? at least give us stuff that make our GAME looks and feel 2000X better, isn't that the reason we spend 300+ on GPU instead of went and buy a 5 year old console that uses gt 7800?

No it doesn't... Go play Crysis Wars, right now, max it. Then go max Crysis 2 and tell me that Crysis wars looks WAY better than Crysis 2. Me thinks you are mistaken.

I don't have Crysis Wars installed and I wasn't really trying to start an argument or anything. I'm just here to say that graphics have stagnated and it is fair to say that, in my opinion, games from 2007 don't look much worse than games today. In the case of Crysis (not wars) I will stand firm that it looks a lot better than Crysis 2. I doubt many will dispute this, but still it's just my opinion.

Maybe not everyone recalls 2007 very well, it was a while ago. Allow me to refresh our collective memories? In late 2007 the original Bioshock came out any many of us thought it was one of the best looking games yet released, later that year CoD4 also came out, and again it graphics were collectively praised. I don't think it's even controversial to say that Crysis 2 looks significantly better, (in multiplayer demo form,) than both of these games. In fact Crysis 2's multiplayer look significantly better than any game released that year, and by a wide margin. Except of course for one game...

Now Crysis also came out in 2007, and no one could run it maxed. No one. In max setting Crysis, and Warhead's campaign do both look quite a bit better than Crysis 2's multiplayer demo. But if you compare the multiplayer component of either game to the Crysis 2 demo, you'll find that in almost every way Crysis 2 looks better than both. It's not a generational leap, but it just looks better. Why the multiplayer demo has to look better than the singleplayer is beyond me, and quite frankly a poor comparison.

Crysis 2 hasn't been released and no one has seen the games single player graphics maxed yet, so all this speculation about Crysis looking better than its sequel is premature. If the game comes out, and there is no doubt about it that Crysis is the better looking game, that by all means lets all get together and whine. I'll be the first to decry Crytek if this is the case.

But at this point there is no basis for making this statement, because no has any clue what the final product will look like.
