I'm pretty sure when you open your box it will tell you to install drivers prior to plugging in the keyboard.

Nice choice on the keyboard aswell mate, I've got the same. It was the cheapest at the time when I was looking for a nice keyboard. I can type fast with no problems and also have no problems with the feel of the keys. It's a very nice board all round, love the soft red LEDs and knobs for volume/LED brightness control.

Plug it in and then download if you want, the software is mainly so you can set macros etc.

Nice keyboard,i miss mine, didnt realise until it had gone how much i liked it,infact id buy another for the right price.

It's just a keyboard, just plug it in.

Then if you want you can install the bundled sw, but is better to do a windows update. You will go straight to the latest version.

Never use the version on the CD, it's a rule old as the... well CD

It does take some getting used to, that's for sure. I have an x4 and love it for all it's rubber domed-ness.

One thing that takes quite some time to get used to is how close the caps lock key is to the "a". I always manage to hit it when I'm typing. Luckily I've got it disabled through the software.

Nice mouse too.

Yeah, I spent an entire year before taking the decision to buy a decent keyboard and sell the X6

The X4 has nothing to do with the X6, unlike the latter it's a good keyboard, as the reclusa was.

All the three are backlit keyboards, and are from MS.End of the similarity.

No, they are quite similar:

1. Both feature red backlighting.
2. Bot have low travel laptop style keys.
3. Both are rubber domes.4
4. Both are marketed as being gaming keyboards.
5. Both require intellitype software to access certain features.

They aren't the same keyboard but they are definitely in the same class of keyboards and can/should be compared when deciding to purchase one or the other.

You're saying the X4 is the better of the two Sidewinders? So I actually win because I was too much of a jew to spend the $20 extra for the X6 that MicroCenter wanted?

WIN!
