Hello everyone Im new to the oc forums so im not sure im posting this in the right place so bare with me I have an old computer its a Hp M8330F it has a AMD Phenom Quad core 9500 3gs of ram 2x 320g HDD and runs windows vista. The mother board is im guessing asus with the number I found on board M2N68LA ( googled it ), Ok heres the Problem it wont boot past the HP startup screen it just freeze's and i cant hit any of the F keys to get in to anything. I THINK its the mother board but im sure.. it could be alot of things.

This is what i have done reading other forums for help with it. I have pulled everything out and reseated Ram , Cards, etc ( except cpu ) i Have pulled the the power cord going to the the 15-1 card reader and im not sure what i need to do from here?

I have recently become very interested in Building a system but ill save all that for later in the right forum ., Im also using a Hp right now that i bought to replace the above computer .... yeah i know lol ! and have some Questions about it but will also leave that for another time . I know i dragged this all out and my apologies and thanks for looking.

Start By Checking Each stick of Ram in Each Ram slot. Thats the most common problem. Then It could be a faulty mobo or other things. So try that first then post back with results.

I also read on a forum to pull the Ram all out and start it up. I got the 2 beeps letting me know that the ram wasn't installed and someone said that it isint the mobo if that happens ? I did pull all the ram and looked them over i didnt see anything out of the ordinary and reseated them all.

I've never seen a motherboard that can POST without any memory installed. The person who advised booting with no memory installed doesn't have a clue.

Anyway, I recommend pulling all of the memory out and then try booting with just 1 stick of memory in. Try booting with that stick in each of the 2 or 4 memory slots (depending on how many you have). After that, remove that stick and move on to one of the others while again trying all of the slots.

Continue until you've gone through both of your sticks, or all 4 of them depending on how many you have.

At some point, it should be able to boot just fine. If it does, then we can continue from there.

Do you have any extra ram laying around, or from another system to try out? Could help if you re-seat the processor.

Maybe. However, many people have removed their heatsink for a moment like this and put it back on without touching their thermal paste and had no problems.
