I would agree with this. It will never be possible to prevent piracy 100% for ANY software (PC,MAC,PS3,XBOX360,etc) and rather than sit there and create horrible DRM that makes the people who did buy it pissed off that they can't play a game they bought or simply develop their software to low standards they should strive to make a BETTER product. Alot of people pirate games because they would rather try the game out first instead of spending an ungodly amount of money on a piece of junk (and these crap demos that they put out just turn people off of a game even more), find out that the game is junk and then never buy it. If devs put more effort into actually meeting(and maybe exceeding) what their customer wants they would see more people actually buying their product because it is actually good.

Who in their right mind would go out and buy a crappy product? I know we wouldn't buy high end CPUs and GFX cards from manufacturers who said "Well everyone is overclocking/unlocking cores so we are just going to put out the same stuff renamed and charge you more for it because its 'newer' ."

If they really feel the need to stop it then they need to shut down torrent sites with their games on them.
lol, all I read from this was
"We're not going to stop stealing your products so just get over it and start developing better ***** for us to steal"

I'm pretty sure you'd be whining too if I stole something from you that you have spent millions on and 2 years to create. They have every right to whine. Bring on DRM i say, if that slows down piracy or makes it harder, then bring it on, we deserve it.

Piracy is killing the gaming industry
?
Dev's need to make a game worth buying before complaining about it.

Most of the games that get pirated out the ass already make gigantic profits anyway, it's not like anybody's going hungry. If the studio did make job cuts then they should be boycotted for not supporting their employees for making a profitable product and making cuts out of simple greed.

Well i do like alot of peoples points. I have been mistakenly wrong, maybe the wrong information about pirating is exploited.

The thing is.. if a game is bad, why still pirate it? Just dont buy it so the dev's know that the product is bad so they get a hint that nobody wants to play it. Im thinking that they are thinking when their game is pirated that it just means nobody wants to buy it.

exactly nksharp. if the dev is going to be original about their game then yes they deserve compensation for their hard work. but if they are just going to copy a already cliche of a game market like a fps, then they need to make some pretty cool additions to what they offer to make it interesting for the consumer.

That wall of text comment is irrelevant to what i'm trying to talk about.
Um you do realize that if a company can make an engine for consoles and PC why not make both so then they can make loads more money to put to making newer and better games. Welcome to business 101

I also just noticed something, odd. The title has piracy as a capital P. I didn't know it was spelled that way

The mistake happening now is there are to many companies making games specifically on consoles and then porting them over or sometimes, not at all.

They can make console games easier since they only have one set of hardware they need to configure the game to and thus save time making the game. They also don't need to make higher resolution textures or anything of the sort since consoles can't render them without overheating and lighting on fire.

Hopefully BF3 will give reason to developers to start making PC ports instead of console ports because they will probably find out it will be much more profitable.

Yeah i know they do. Thats not what i'm talking about. PC Pirating is so much higher that its AFFECTING the industry. Console pirating is not because usually the little kid asks his mommy for a game for his birthday or something.
I think its funny how you say that not knowing that 360 version of Black Ops was THE most pirated game ever :/
