First EVER build!

post #1 of 16
Thread Starter
Hi all!

I'm looking to build. I don't know much about what parts would fit what, but i know the general components that make up a PC.
I use it for watching HD movies, video editing, listening to music and surfing the net. I don't use it for playing games, but would like for it to be possible if i wanted to.

I don't know what exact parts i should get, but basically would like the following:

* i7
* 8GB Ram
* 1GB GPU
* 1TB HDD
* HD Audio (most likely this one)

I would also like a LOT of USB ports and at least 4x RAM slots
I have a budget of ~£800. I already have a monitor/HDTV.

What parts would you guys recommend? If possible, please can you use the Aria website as it's where i will be getting the parts from.

Cheers guys!

Two Secs i will just put a nice system together

Edit:

DO you need a soundcard and what size of Pc you looking for? Extremely small to Extemely Big?
Or just something mid tower like 50cm height?

Here is something quick:

Under budget so some items like the case can be upgraded. This is just to give you a starting point.

CPU

Mobo

RAM

GPU

HDD

PSU

Card Reader

DVD Drive

Epic Cheap cooler

Sorry i forgot you will need some thermal Paste

Oh yea, wit the remaining monies grab Keyboard mice etc?

Or if you aint got enough cash then use a i5 2500K CPU instead. Nothing wrong with it and not that much of a performance gain to the i7 variant

Hi Shadow, i love my audio and would like for the best possible sound.
Does size matter? Hehee
I've just measured my current one; it's 50cm high

Speaking of cases, I've seen a really cool one, i think it's called Antec 9 or something. It's a big black one, with blue lights

Wow, that's crazy !
I was originally looking at the GTS450, as it was in most pre-built ones in my price range

The one I linked to is if you wanted to game. A 5770 would be fine if you wanted to game once and a while.

Also, just a tip for using OCN, if anyone helps you, kindly press the REP+ button below their avatar.

WHOA ! Thanks for the ultra quick Build List! Impressed!
I can push my budget if it will increase performance and be sort of future proof for a few years. I have a keyboard and mouse already
