CPU Cooler for AMD Athlon XP 2500+

Finally got around to looking at the computer at my parent's house. Besides the ridiculous amount of dust I cleared out, I'm noticing that the stock fan on the cpu cooler is making a slight buzzing noise.

Unfortunately, the fan is a 70mm fan and I don't really have one of those lying around. I figure I could just replace the whole heatsink/fan combo and maybe even get some better cooling with some AS5 applied.

First, I'm not familiar with replacing the heatsink/cpu of this kind and would appreciate and guides you may have handy. I'll search later for a youtube video. (the only chips/mobos i've dealt with is my current i7 940 / 1366 setup).

Second, could someone verify that this unit will work with the PC my parent's have? From what I can tell it's Socket A and I'm having a tough time finding much of a selection or at least one that uses a more common fan size.

Thanks!

Cooler Master 212+ is a good choice for low and high-end CPUs

This works on Socket A? (462 i think?) I didn't hear it mentioned in the video or see it on the spec page I found. I'm not familiar with this particular PC i'm workin on, but it looks like it uses clips, not screws to hold it in place. Thanks for your patience.

It seems most anything out there for such an old CPU is discontinued. Any other suggestions is more than welcome.

That socket just seems way too old... From what I remember, it's over a decade old. Your best bet for hardware that old would be to find an old cooler on eBay/Craigslist/here if anyone can dig one up. I had a system with a Socket A CPU, but I got rid of it almost 7 years ago when 939 stuff was coming out. You may want to look into getting them a new computer, maybe a laptop or something.

After googling for a few minutes, here's what I've found:

http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/std/sku=axp-3200
-a bit pricey, but will work.

http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-7000b-c...pu-cooler.html
-still pricey

http://www.cwc-group.com/thk7vo11cpuc.html
-a little better, but I have no idea who Thernaltake is.

http://store.cwc-group.com/mf035032.html
-apparently OEM cooler. I'd go with this, I guess.

I'm sure there's more out there, but you're going to be hard pressed to find better prices, since it's just such an old system. I highly recommend a new computer for them.
